Hey! My name is Ellie. I think it is crucial for people to be able express themselves in some way. This is why I started The Life in Progress. Writing has always been one of my favorite things to do. One day I got tired of writing my thoughts in a journal that no one could see, so I decided to post it. I didn’t start this blog to share my faith, but I have learned that when I write what I am really passionate about, it almost always ties back to my faith.

I am a sophomore at BYU-Idaho, studying English and Communications. It is challenging, but I have been learning so much! I have fallen in love with the power that words have when they are used effectively.
I love to get creative. Whether it be painting or sculpting or even drawing. I find it fascinating to see what I can do with a ball of clay or a blank piece of paper. I am obsessed with holding paint brushes and shaping clay and sliding pencil tips over blank pages. It captivates me that I can turn paper to snowflakes and elephants. That I can take a ball of clay and turn it to a bird or a bowl. That I can draw lines to form a child or a tree or an entire ocean. It intrigues me that I can take a paper and turn it to a symphony. I can take the keys of a piano and compose a song. That I can string words together to construct a poem. It is my favorite thing to do. Dieter F. Uchtdorf once proclaimed, “The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul”. Nothing has ever been as true as this.

I love music. I believe that music is a language that everyone can speak. When I was about eight years old I started playing the piano and to this day, I can tell you that there is nothing I love more. Music has always been an escape for me. Whether I am listening, playing or composing music, I am completely in my element. I’m so glad you’ve found my blog! It's always exciting to me to see that people actually read it!
