There is a Man acquainted with my grief.
An Empathizer who feels my pains Capable of giving comfort and relief One who is able to unlock these chains There is a door on which I can knock And unto me can be given The ability to walk With a Savior who has risen A Man who willingly died That I might live my life With the knowledge that I may abide In a place with no strife In a garden, He atoned That He may be capable to relate So that I do not have to be alone That burdens may become lightweight. Upon a cross, He hung In agony not only wrought by His physical pain From the place on which He slung But from knowing He was breaking the chain of death As He felt the bitter taste of death There was no utterance No hatred, no condemnation of the sinners was expressed He called upon God in his sufferance But He did not call to ask deliverance No, the only prayer lifted from His lips Was one of forgiveness Until the end He worshipped This was the time the believers Were about to close the book For they saw they had no leader As darkness covered and the earth shook But then came the third day And the trembling ceased The world of turmoil was tamed The bands of death were released The Man who had died Just three days before Rose at the sorrowful side Of a follower once more Now he lodges where I rest Giving me the assurance That from his sacrifice I am blessed With an eternal promise A promise that allows my progression One that gives me the awareness That through Him I can be liberated from pain and sin He is the one who calms my tempests There is always One who can adjust Our sails in the right direction Always someone we can trust When we fall just short of perfection

From what star in the heavens, my dear
Have you come to meet me here? Just to lend me a consoling ear. Not oft do I find someone so sincere. Had you not so promptly come My anxious mind would drum My weary heart would numb To my grief I’d succumb But here at my side, you are Though you had to come so far To me from one of those stars Never again to say au revoir I used to hate waiting too,
It irked me each time Then along came you To change my paradigm I wholly detested being still I used to hate waiting But now I have you to fill All of the moments in between Even when you aren't around Or when you're right here But not making a sound You still bring me cheer Because I have found you All of my waiting thoughts Seem to contain you And you fill the empty space Even that is an understatement It seems so much more To my utter amazement I love you more than before Whether I'm happy or blue All of my pauses in my day Bring my mind to you And I can't seem to keep it away What is it that you smile for?
Would you be so kind to tell me? Does that pearly crescent reach your core? And are you happy? To what degree? To the man whose smile never ceases: Has the world ever explained to you The more you smile, the more your face creases? Beauticians would say that you should be blue. Oh, but tell me the secret, dear man How is it that your smile never ceases? Please let me know if you can, Help me fix mine, you see it's in pieces. Through this ode. I beg for assistance Oh, please let me know if you can, Spread a little joy on my sorrowful existence What makes you so happy, dear man? There once was an old man
Who was convinced the earth was flat When he said he would prove to the world They mocked, "Good luck proving that!" So he set out on his long journey To justify his presumption He took only his sailboat And all of his gumption He was determined to find The edge of this earth With no doubt in his mind He set off from the old berth At first the waves thrashed And the old man grew tired Fearing the sea he may not outlast As the waves grew higher and higher There was a point on his journey That the man felt he was lost His situation was concerning When he lay in bed he tossed His compass had broken His map had been torn He remembered the words he'd spoken "I'll come back" he had sworn. To his wife and his kids He assured his return Even his twelve grandkids Had been wrought with concern He lived off his cargo: crackers and fish And sailed for months in search of that ledge One day he found himself in utter anguish Remembering the promise he long ago pledged With his eyes wet with tears He knelt on the ship's deck And cried the One he hadn't called upon in years "Please guide my ship that it will not wreck" All at once, the oceans were peaceful He saw a little land and hope on the horizon His fears were quieted and he was grateful He taught the power of prayer to his twelve grandchildren He explained that God never leaves us Unless we choose to leave Him And when from Him we stray He's always there to receive us. |
I know that this blog has laid dormant for quite a while. I have been so busy over the past couple of months, during which, my love for the English language has grown so much. The courses that I have been taking in school have led me to write more poetry. Recently, people have been asking to read them! So, here they are, enjoy!
